تقریباً یک سوم از نوجوانانی که افکار خودکشی دارند در سنین نوجوانی برای خودکشی برنامه‌ریزی می‌کنند. هدف پژوهش جاری، مقایسه‌ی اثربخشی درمان وجودی و درمان رفتاریِ‌عقلانی- هیجانی بر معنای ‌زندگی و مدیریت خشم دانش‌آموزان پسر دوره‌ی متوسطه‌ی‌دوم با افکار خودکشی‌گرایانه بود. روش پژوهش، نیمه‌آزمایشی با طرح پیش‌آزمون- پس‌آزمون- پیگیری با گروه کنترل بود. جامعه‌ی آماری تمام دانش‌آموزان پسر دوره‌ی متوسطه دوم دارای افکار خودکشی در سال تحصیلی 1401-1402 شهر ایذه بود، که از بین آن‌ها 45 نفر به شیوه نمونه‌گیری تصادفی خوشه‌ای چندمرحله‌ای با در نظر گرفتن ملاک‌های ورود به پژوهش انتخاب و سپس به‌صورت تصادفی در سه گروه درمان وجودی، درمانِ‌رفتاریِ عقلانی- هیجانی و گروه کنترل قرار گرفتند (هر گروه 15 نفر). ابزارهای این پژوهش شامل پرسشنامه‌ی سنجش افکار خودکشی (بک 1979)، مقیاس معنای ‌زندگی (استیگر و همکاران، 2006) و پرسشنامه‌ی خشم صفت حالت اسپیلبرگر (1999) بود. شرکت‌کنندگان به طور همزمان و موازی در جلسات درمان وجودی (10 جلسه) و درمان رفتاریِ‌عقلانی- هیجانی (8 جلسه) حضور یافتند. داده‌های پژوهش از طریق تحلیل کوواریانس چند متغیری و آزمون تعقیبی بونفرنی در نرم‌افزار SPSS نسخه‌ی 26 مورد تجزیه تحلیل قرار گرفت. نتایج نشان داد که آموزش درمان وجودی و درمان رفتاریِ‌عقلانی- هیجانی بر معنای زندگی و مدیریت خشم مؤثر بود (01/0p≤) و حاکی از ثبات مداخلات در مرحله‌ی پیگیری بر روی نمرات معنای زندگی و مدیریت خشم بود. نتایج آزمون تعقیبی بونفرونی نشان داد بین اثربخشی هر دو درمان تفاوت معنی‌داری وجود نداشت (05/0p>). همچنین نتایج این پژوهش از تأثیر مداخلات آموزشی بر معنای ‌زندگی و مدیریت خشم نوجوانان دارای افکار خودکشی‌گرایانه حمایت می‌کند.
