Abstract:   (13 Views)

The present study aimed to investigate the lived experience of men in the gender difference in driving between women and men: it was conducted with a phenomenological approach. This qualitative study was conducted based on a phenomenological approach. The statistical population of the study was young men aged 30 to 45 living in Tehran, who were selected using purposive and accessible sampling and interviewed through in-depth interviews to theoretical saturation, with 13 people. The data were analyzed using the Claise method. The findings of this study were analyzed using the Claise method and the main themes of the lived experience of women driving from the perspective of male drivers were extracted. It should be noted that the three-way method (interviews with men, experts, and text analysis) was used to validate the data. In this way, the lived experience of women driving from the perspective of male drivers was coded into 5 common concepts, each of which has sub-themes (and a total of 11 sub-themes). There are biological and physiological differences in driving between men and women, and the factors that cause men's negative attitudes toward women's driving are the physiological and gender dimensions, as well as the cultural dimension. However, there is no difference in the rate of violations and accidents.
